Race Charity:

The Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization formed as an outlet for Palatine police officers and firefighters to give back to the community in which we serve. Our focus is to provide financial assistance (within our means) to community members in times of tragedy and crises. The Association raises money by organizing and/or participating in various events throughout the year with the ultimate goal of assisting others in need. Race Packet Pick-Up:

Pre-race packet pick-up will be at Road Runner Sports in Kildeer (20291 N Rand Rd #105, Kildeer, IL 60074) on Friday, August 21 from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Race day packet pick-up will also be available. From 7:30 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.

All 5K participants will receive either a blue police officer, or red firefighter customized Dri-Fit t-shirt and a goody bag.

*Participants will choose their shirt during registration.

All Youth 1 Mile participants will receive a cotton youth size t-shirt and goody bag.

Timing and Bibs:

The First Responders 5K is an officially timed event using the disposable B-Tag timing system. Timing chips are attached directly to the back of your bib number and are to remain adhered for the duration of the event.

In order to receive an accurate time, please confirm your bibs is:

  • Clearly visible on the front of the torso
  • Unaltered and unmodified (Do not fold or wrinkle)
  • Pinned in all four corners
  • Not covered (jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.)

Results will be posted on-site, as soon as possible following the event and official results will be posted on the results page within 24 hours.


Parking will be available at the Deer Grove East Forest Preserve. There will also be off-site parking with a shuttle if necessary.

The top three overall male and female finishers will receive a customized First Responders 5K plaque after the race.
The top three male and female finishers in each age group will receive a customized First Responders 5K medal.

Age groups are as follows:

14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.

Gear Check:

Gear Check will be available for all participants at the race starting at 7:00 A.M. Please use the provided tear off on your race bib and zip tie to use when you check your personal items. Any gear not picked up by 11:00 A.M. on race day will be transported to our main office at 345 N Eric Dr., Palatine IL. Items not claimed within 30 days will be donated to a local charity.

Strollers, Walkers and Dogs:

Strollers, walkers and dogs are allowed. We ask that anyone with a stroller or pet starts behind all runners.



You can still register from 12:00-6:00pm today (8/21) at Road Runner Sports in Kildeer, or tomorrow morning before the event.

Refunds and Exchanges:

There will be NO refunds or exchanges for the First Responders 5K or Youth 1 Mile Race. No exceptions.

You cannot transfer your bib to someone else.
